Madness I say!

Sometime there are projects that people take on that you can look at and just think they are either amazingly inspired or just mad.  Sometimes the line between the two is very close as well.

I've followed Andrew Law for some time on G+ and when he started going on about doing the Empire (Warhammer here not the Star Wars one.) using tile from Mighty Empires. At the time I thought it was a bold plan and he was totally mad.  It's not a small project and the chap needs a lot of tiles to do it all.  But so far the public community support has been huge. Sets have been turning up and this has allowed Andrew to get his idea well under way.

The other amazing thing is that because a lot of what he needs isn't on the tiles he has he's sculpting a huge chunk of them to suit the need as well.  Even more of a sign that he could indeed be mad.

So why not have a look at his blog and if you can help even with a single tile Andrew will be more than happy.

On the Shelf

Over the past few months I have read a lot of books both at home and work when I have the time to spare.  I've always been a prolific reader so it's as much fun for me to read as it is for some to watch TV.

Here is a list of the few I've read...well that I can remember:

First Three of the Drizzt Dark Elf Saga (Homeland, Exile, Sojourn)
First three of the 40k Ciphas Caine books
The 40k Shira Calpurnia books
Rogue Squadron Books 1-3
Dune (Again, love this book and would hate to think how many times I've read it so far.)

I'm sure I could add another 4-6 books to that as well.

I'm currently reading the second Anno Dracula Book, by Kim Newman, called the Bloody Red Baron. It follows Dracula's adventures for want of a better term, into the First World War.

On the Painting Bench

Okay so it's been ages, and I could give a hundred reasons why, but I shan't :)

I finally got back into some painting as I have both the time and some proper space to do it in as well. I find if I don't keep the painting going I will forget to get on with stuff.

So first up is some old GW Epic scale buildings, which are 6mm and can be used in loads of games. They fit well for us in say Dystopian Wars.  I also used some of them for a game of Genesha Games Monster Mayhem.

I haven't done a huge amount with the buildings beyond the base and having flocked them, as I just wanted to get them done.  A few have coral sand on them in places to look like additional debris, but no huge imagination was used.

The main thing I need to look at doing next is possibly some road sections.  I have some simple ones in card stock, but they tend to bend and they don't look that special.  I looked at some resin pieces from the likes of forge world, but the cost can become silly very quickly.

Lets get it on!!

Okay I know I posted I wasn't dead and I needed to get on.  ut hey Life is life and it doesn't always run the way we want it too.

So I've been busy just moved house its much bigger than my last one, more space, garage to store stuff in and lots of fun.

So what have I been doing, just started a Dwarven Uncharted Seas fleet from Spartan Games as part of a review for The Ancible.  I already have the fleet but the new sculpts made me keep to the same fleet.  We'll be looking at Dystopian Wars and Firestorm Armada in future issues as well.  Once i get some piccies done I'll upload for all to see.

Book wise I'm reading Rapscallion by James McGee bit like the Bernard Cornwell Sharpe series but the guy is a Bow Street Runner.  It's a step away from my normal Sci-Fi and Fantasy but the books have been very easy to read.

There is Life

Okay I know I've been neglecting my blog and I really need to get a grip and get on with posting stuff.

But I haven't been lazy, past month I've been reading more from Glen Cooks Black Company and also started re-reading the Harry Potter books. I guess those for the fact I want to remember all the little bits the films don't include.

Painting wise, I've been doing stuff for Bushido and I picked up the Savage Wave starter set.  I would usually go for the normal looking army, but for some reason the Bakemono just made me laugh, and I thought something different would be in order for a change.  All I've done so far is get some undercoat on them, but I'll get some images up anyway.  I'm also building a small demo table for the game and it only needs to be 2ft x 2ft so it makes life a little easier. The main elements are done and I just need to get some good flock and do that.

I Ain't Dead Yet!!

Okay I guess it's an odd title, so let me explain.  The blog has been a little quiet over the past 1-2 weeks, but it's not that it was a quick fad and I got bored with it.  Far from it...I've simply been on holiday for 2 weeks so had some down time.  Though I did leave people with a few things to read while I was away.
